What You Will Do
Lead and manage technical and operational projects related to nuclear materials and waste shipping, ensuring timely completion, budgeting, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate data collection, inventory analysis, reporting, forecasting, and tracking of nuclear material disposition for both classified and unclassified work.
Represent LANL on radioactive fissile materials packaging and transportation issues with DOE, NNSA, DOT, FAA, and other stakeholders.
Participate in 24/7 shift coverage, including nights, weekends, and rotating schedules.
Responsibilities
Manage and ensure timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects.
Establish technical requirements, define deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
Oversee project team in planning, tracking, and execution of projects.
Coordinate, integrate, and execute nuclear materials data collection and inventory analysis.
Create queries, reports, and feed lists to support nuclear material disposition.
Maintain compliance with DOE Orders, safety protocols, and security clearance requirements.
Travel to other NNSA sites as required.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Advanced knowledge and experience in project management of technical or operational work.
Experience developing project plans, scoping, and scheduling.
Demonstrated knowledge of the technical or operational discipline of the assigned project.
Leadership skills: plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts.
Teamwork capabilities: interact effectively with personnel at all levels.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
Expert‑level knowledge of LANL nuclear materials management, including processing, storage, control, disposition, distribution, and inventory data analysis.
Knowledge of or experience with LANMAS, LAMCAS, QERTS, WCATS, SAP, MS Access, SharePoint, MS SQL Server, and related systems.
Education and Experience:
For Nuclear Operations Professional 3: bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience or equivalent.
For Nuclear Operations Professional 4: bachelor’s degree and 12 years of related experience or equivalent.
Desired Qualifications
Active Q clearance.
Experience with LANMAS, LAMCAS, QERTS, WCATS.
Experience in SAP programs.
Knowledge of and/or experience performing programmatic operations at TA-55, ALDWP, and ALDW.
Demonstrated experience with MS Access, SharePoint, and/or MS SQL Server.
Program Management coursework.
Experience with PVD and TOS.
Essential Job Functions
Visual and motor skills: color discrimination, peripheral vision, depth perception, reading vision, distance vision.
Speech and hearing: ability to speak and hear in normal range.
Physical abilities: smell, general mobility, reaching overhead/horizontally/down, applying torque with hands or arms, pulling, typing or keyboarding, fine motor control, carrying 30+ pounds.
Work Environment
Shift, weekend, and 24/7 coverage required. Work location onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
