DESCRIPTION
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all domestic and international shipping operations to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role leads day-to-day shipping activities, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with all regulatory, customs, and company requirements. The ideal candidate has strong experience in transportation logistics and working knowledge of SAP.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily shipping operations for both domestic and international orders
Lead and coordinate team activities, including scheduling, workload balancing, and performance management
Ensure all shipments are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
Serve as escalation point for shipping issues, delays, and customer concerns
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to optimize transportation efficiency and cost
Manage international shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, export declarations, etc.)
Ensure compliance with all import/export regulations, trade laws, and company policies
Monitor shipping KPIs such as on-time delivery, freight cost, and accuracy
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve service levels
Lead daily/weekly tier meetings to communicate priorities, performance, and issues
Utilize SAP to manage shipping transactions, track orders, and maintain accurate system data
Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company safety standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation operations
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes and regulations
Hands‑on experience with SAP (shipping, logistics, or warehouse modules preferred)
Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of Incoterms, tariffs, and customs compliance
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret shipping and cost data
Supervisory Responsibility
Directly supervises a team of shipping associates (typically 5–10 employees)
Responsible for training, performance management, and employee development
