Elementary School Bookkeeper

The Elementary Bookkeeper is responsible for all financial transactions at four elementary schools. This position requires maintaining student activity accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions. The bookkeeper also monitors operating and grant accounts' budgets and expenditures, reconciles monthly purchase card statements and bank statements, and retains supporting documentation for all financial transactions in an organized manner. Additionally, the bookkeeper pays supplier invoices in a timely manner, records cash receipts, makes bank deposits, and reconciles all student activity accounts to the general ledger monthly. The bookkeeper issues and reviews monthly financial statements with the principals and sponsors, keeps principals aware of all spending and any issues that may arise, and assembles information for external auditors for the annual audit. The bookkeeper also maintains the chart of accounts in the school preferred accounting system (EPES) and ensures expenditures are within the annual budget limit. All school spending must comply with school, local, state, and federal government laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate.

An associate's degree in accounting or business administration is preferred, or the equivalent of years in accounting experience. Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite is also required.
The Elementary Bookkeeper is required to travel between three locations to perform the duties required of this position. Reliable transportation is required. Reimbursement for mileage is paid based on IRS standard mileage rates and paid monthly.
