Job Title: Salvage Associate
Location: Lomar Distribution Center
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function
Responsible for sorting, staging, and loading pallets, bread trays, and totes utilizing pallet jacks and forklifts for efficient material transport. Minimize waste by compacting and baling cardboard and plastic for recycling. Perform various utility and groundskeeping tasks and operate the tote washing machine.
Working Relationships
Reports to President, Lomar Distribution Center; Compliance & Food Safety Manager, Lomar Distribution Center; Warehouse Supervisor(s), Lomar Distribution Center; Asst. Warehouse Supervisor(s), Lomar Distribution Center. No positions reported to this role.
Primary Responsibilities And Duties
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
Runs compactor and baler for all cardboard and plastic.
Maintains pallets, bread trays, and totes (sort, load, unload, and verify pallet load counts).
Removes trash from the warehouse floor and assists with office housekeeping as needed.
Puts empty totes in the tote washing machines.
Removes cleaned totes from the washer and stacks them on pallets.
Operates powered industrial equipment, demonstrating caution and complying with safety rules and regulations in all aspects of the daily job requirements.
Performs general utility and grounds maintenance as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities
Attends departmental and company meetings.
Assists with the set-up and tear-down of large group meetings.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Education / Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Promotes a safe work environment by using all proper personal protective equipment.
Has the ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables with limited standardization; interprets instructions.
Has the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; writes identifying information; requests supplies verbally or in writing.
Physical Requirements
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform heavy work using up to 50 pounds of force frequently, up to 20 pounds constantly, and up to 10 pounds continually to move objects.
Must be able to perform the following activities: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Equipment Used To Perform Job
Scrubber, mop, sweeper, hand tools, power tools, vacuum, and industrial power truck and equipment.
Working Conditions
Duties are normally conducted in a warehouse environment with continuous exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals or solvents, and electrical shock.
