VFR Helicopter Pilot Med-Trans EG
Medical Transport Network, Seminole, TX, United States
As a VFR Helicopter Pilot Med-Trans EG with Med-Trans Corporation in the Healthcare & Medical Services industry, you will provide safe and efficient air medical transport within the Emergency Services department, flying patients, clinical crews, and essential medical teams to and from hospitals and emergency scenes. Operating as Pilot in Command under visual flight rules, you will conduct all flight operations with an uncompromising focus on safety, adhering to Med-Trans’ policies, FAA regulations, and all applicable hospital and partner protocols. You will complete thorough pre‑flight planning, perform detailed pre- and post‑flight inspections, monitor weather and environmental conditions, and make sound, timely go
o‑go decisions to ensure the safety of patients, crew, and aircraft at all times.
Working closely with flight paramedics, flight nurses, and communication specialists, you will support time‑critical transport missions, including scene calls and inter‑facility transfers, often in challenging environments and under time pressure. You will communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, hospital staff, first responders, and air traffic control, maintaining situational awareness and effective crew resource management throughout every mission. You will utilize modern avionics and navigation systems, operate within established VFR minimums, manage fuel and weight‑and‑balance limits, and ensure the aircraft is operated and secured according to Med-Trans and manufacturer procedures.
In this role, you will embody Med-Trans Corporation’s commitment to safety, innovation, and exceptional patient care by consistently applying risk management practices, participating in safety briefings and debriefings, and reporting safety concerns or hazards through established channels. You will contribute to a supportive, safety‑first culture by engaging in regular training, recurrent check rides, proficiency flights, and simulation or scenario‑based exercises. You will take part in ongoing professional development to refine your piloting skills, maintain regulatory currency, and stay current with evolving air medical and emergency services best practices.
You will also represent Med‑Trans to partner healthcare systems, EMS agencies, and the community with professionalism, integrity, and respect. This includes supporting base operations such as assisting with aircraft readiness, maintaining accurate flight and duty‑time records, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and participating in community outreach or education events as requested. The position involves working a non‑traditional schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and being prepared for rapid response launches while maintaining readiness standards.
Med‑Trans fosters a collaborative team environment where pilots, clinicians, and communication staff work together to deliver the highest standard of air medical transport. As a VFR Helicopter Pilot Med-Trans EG, you will play a critical role in ensuring that critically ill or injured patients receive timely access to advanced care, while upholding Med‑Trans’ core values of safety, teamwork, and professional excellence.
