Overview
The University of Virginia’s Department of Parking and Transportation is seeking Enforcement Officers. Enforcement at UVA Parking & Transportation is an integral part of the University’s functionality. As an Enforcement Officer, your daily tasks may include utilizing LPR devices to write citations, assisting as a garage ambassador, sign shop worker or assisting our maintenance staff. The successful candidate(s) will also possess excellent frontline customer service skills as you are the face of Parking at UVA.
Responsibilities
Utilize LPR (license plate reader) devices to issue citations to unpermitted and inappropriately parked vehicles.
Communicate via phone, text or email with Parking Operations Manager throughout the day.
Coordinate towing with Parking Operations Manager.
Patrol and monitor parking areas on Grounds including permitted garages/lots and ParkMobile spaces.
Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Work hours are across two shifts, Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 12 a.m.; however, weekend and evening shifts may be required for events.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least 8 months of prior work experience. Experience gained during part-time work as a student may be considered.
A valid State of Virginia Driver's License. Must have a positive point balance via a good driving record on existing license.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Intermediate technology skills.
Physical Demands
Safe operation of a transit bus requires sustained sitting, driving, pushing/pulling (steering wheel and various controls), repetitive motion, use of both hands, use of either hand, fine finger manipulation, and wrist movement. Safe operation also includes repetitive motion with both ankles/feet, with both possessing the strength and dexterity to fully depress the service brake and accelerator (right), and turn signal controls (left) present on the transit bus units within the Parking and Transportation fleet. Boarding/alighting the transit bus requires the ability to climb stairs (at least one step up/down). Successful operation of ADA Accessible equipment aboard the transit bus requires bending, lifting, and carrying. All of these physical requirements should be considered essential to the position. Work performed during special events and as part of servicing the equipment requires standing, traveling, and the potential for bending, lifting, and carrying.
Salary Range
The anticipated hiring range is $19.00 - $22.00 hourly, commensurate with education and experience.
