
Aquatics Manager

Performs the managerial and instructional duties during the swimming season as defined by the City of Columbus in coordination with the Recreation Director, as defined by the American Red Cross.
Represent the City of Columbus in a professional, friendly demeanor.
Abide by the CAAC policies and the pool rules, and all state health codes as applicable for swimming pools/water attractions.
Maintain proper licensure for aquatics operations with the State of Wisconsin.
Maintain proper licensure for concessions/restaurant operations for the State of Wisconsin.
Hire, interview, supervise, schedule, manage, and train all employees in coordination with the Recreation Director.
Oversee the CAAC by reporting mechanical issues and/or needs to the Recreation Director and the Public Works Director.
Coordinate purchase of all equipment necessary for the CAAC and its operation with the Recreation Director and the Public Works Director.
Coordinate payroll and hours of CAAC employees to City of Columbus designee.
Coordinate all billing of payments with City of Columbus during the swimming season with the Recreation Director.
Balances cash register funds and deposits money as directed by the City Treasurer/Finance Director.
Coordinate and oversee the concessions operations in coordination with the Recreation Director.
Prevent accidents by encouraging situations that are within the guidelines of established safety procedure.
(A) Enforce and model pool rules at all times.
Provide supervision for staff, patrons, parents and participants in scheduled swim lessons
Provide discipline and control measures for employees and patrons.
Facilitate the maintenance of the pool deck area to keep it safe and clean.
Serve as a lifeguard and swimming instructor when needed.
Receive and maintain custody of all equipment and supplies.
Be responsible for the rescue and emergency care of any victim in and about the pool, and recording such incidents.
Be responsible for locking and securing all pool doors when pool is closed.
Oversee chemical testing conducted by CAAC staff, and conduct testing as requested by Recreation Director
Be responsible for leading all staff meetings and trainings.
Keep Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications on file for all employees.
Be responsible for finding qualified substitutes for employees.
Communicate effectively with the Recreation Director and Public Works Director.
Educate the community about the established emergency procedures.
Coordinate programming and special events for the CAAC in coordination with the Recreation Director.
Schedule instructors for swim lessons. Instruct lessons as needed.
Complete all required paperwork for the American Red Cross in relationship to swim lessons.
Education and Experience
Must be at least 21 years of age, and
Minimum two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, supervisory, and knowledge of aquatic field.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license, current CPR/AED/1st Aid certification, and Lifeguard Certification. Certified Food Operator Certification and Certified Pool Operator / Aquatic Facility Operator license, or ability to obtain prior to hire date.
Desired certifications include CPR/AED Trainer, 1st Aid Trainer, Lifeguard Trainer, Water Safety Instructor, and Wisconsin DPI teaching licensure.
