Lead Teacher Trainer I Fall

The Lead Teacher Trainer position at Chess Wizards plays a key role in aligning our instructors' performance with our customers' expectations, serving as a vital stepping stone toward future management opportunities.

Responsibilities

Lead and facilitate chess classes for 10–15 energetic elementary students, ensuring engagement and positive behavior.

Assist in the training, development, and coaching of other instructors.

Evaluate instructor performance, provide constructive feedback, and support ongoing development.

Collaborate with the Area Manager to schedule classes, conduct coaching visits, and provide quality control.

Resolve program challenges, maintain open communication with supervisors, school administrations, and parents.

Prepare and submit class evaluation reports; communicate daily with the supervisor during the programming season.

Arrive 15 minutes early to set up, stay until safe student dismissal, and conduct post‑class responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with children in teaching, tutoring, coaching, or similar settings.

Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain concepts age‑appropriately.

Reliable transportation to reach all classes in the metropolitan area.

Availability after school at least 4 days per week, preferably 5, with flexibility for peak program weeks (fall, winter, spring).

Excellent communication skills and professional conduct when interacting with students, colleagues, school administrators, and parents.

Willingness to travel for day‑camp opportunities; mileage reimbursement is provided for trips over 15 miles one way.
