The Role
As a

Fleet Supervisor , you will be the strategic owner of all physical fleet assets, from specialized trucks and trailers to construction equipment at Veev. You’ll guarantee that every vehicle is safe, compliant, and always ready for operation, maximizing uptime and managing the entire asset lifecycle to support Veev’s rapid growth and commitment to on‑time delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work with in‑house delivery teams and external partners, and contribute to Veev’s continued growth.

Responsibilities

Define technical specifications for new trucks, trailers, and equipment; manage vendor selection, negotiation, and acquisition processes.

Develop, implement, and oversee all scheduled maintenance to maximize vehicle uptime and ensure mechanical soundness.

Ensure 100% compliance with DOT and state regulations; manage all vehicle records, registrations, permits, and inspection reports.

Manage relationships, service level agreements (SLAs), and contract negotiations with maintenance providers, OEMs, and parts suppliers.

Track total cost of ownership, analyze asset performance data, and provide data‑driven recommendations for the fleet budget and capital expenditures.

Act as the primary point of contact for vehicle breakdowns, coordinating repairs and recovery to minimize operational disruption.

Must‑Have Skills and Competencies

Minimum of 3‑5 years of direct experience in fleet maintenance, asset management, and/or vehicle procurement.

Demonstrable experience managing a fleet of heavy‑duty commercial vehicles.

Vehicle & equipment expertise: deep technical knowledge of Class 7/8 tractors, various trailer types (e.g., flatbeds, hotshots), and material construction equipment like bobcats and mobile cranes.

Maintenance program development: proven ability to design and implement comprehensive, data‑driven preventative maintenance programs that reduce downtime and control costs.

Fleet management software proficiency: hands‑on experience with modern fleet management and telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara, Verizon Connect, Fleetio) for diagnostics, tracking, and reporting.

Data analysis & financial acumen: strong analytical skills to interpret vehicle performance data, calculate total cost of ownership, and manage a fleet budget effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

DOT/FMCSA: knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.

Record‑keeping & auditing: meticulous attention to detail in managing all required documentation, including driver vehicle inspection reports, annual inspection certificates, registrations, and maintenance files. Experience preparing for and successfully passing compliance audits.

Vendor negotiation: skilled negotiator with a proven track record of securing favorable terms with vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies, and service providers.

Communication & collaboration: excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal teams (drivers, site crews, operations) and external partners.

Problem‑solving: a proactive and resourceful problem‑solver who can quickly and calmly address unexpected equipment failures or compliance issues.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills and Competencies

Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or similar industry certification is highly desirable.

Experience in the construction, manufacturing, or specialized transportation industry.

Compensation
Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $80,000‑$125,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
