This role performs the functions of a non-certified care attendant with medication administration. The purpose of this position is to provide service and routine assistance to residents according to standard procedures and established State and Federal regulations. This position assists in the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents, and administers medication in accordance with a physician’s written orders.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Remind residents of scheduled activities, social events, meals, and when to get dressed.
Assist with medication supervision and/or administration per state regulations.
Assist with laundry.
Assist dietary staff with serving meals, ensuring residents attend the dining room, observe residents while eating, arrange and deliver meal trays for room service, and assist with returning trays to the kitchen. Serve supplemental nourishment and snacks as needed.
Observe residents’ condition, including mental state and general well-being, changes in physical condition, and report to the assisted living director when appropriate.
Respond to residents’ call signals, make rounds, and check on the safety and security of residents. Use independent judgment to provide assistance or summon additional help.
Provide general support, comfort, and socialization opportunities; encourage independence and attendance at activities and social events.
Assist the activities staff with daily activities and social events; follow instructions for evening and weekend programming.
Assist residents to and from meals and activities, including wheelchair transport.
Assist with admission, orientation, discharge, and transfer of residents.
Be cross-trained to work at all levels of care so assistance can be provided to residents in Assisted Living or Assisted Living Memory Care levels.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
Required Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Degree: N/A
Certificate(s): Medication Assistant training per state regulations.
Experience: Entry Level
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and healthcare professionals.
Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Knowledge of prioritizing tasks and managing schedules effectively.
Knowledge of privacy regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Ability to build trust with clients and families to ensure a positive caregiving relationship.
Physical Requirements
Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
Engaged in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
Clarity of Vision:
Near visual acuity: Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (e.g., reading small print or using computers).
Far visual acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, sufficient to recognize features.
Peripheral vision: Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
Compensation Pay Range
$18.99 - $23.18 per hour
Reasonable Pay Estimate
A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $18.99 - $23.18 per hour. The estimate is based on factors such as job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and internal and external equity considerations.
