Summary / Objective
Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repair, inspection and testing fire alarm systems.

Essential Functions

Installation, troubleshooting and repair of complex networked and non-networked fire alarm systems with limited or no supervision.

Assist our Construction Fire Alarm Division in troubleshooting, inspecting and testing large‑scale networked fire alarm/mass notification systems for extended periods of time.

Perform fire alarm, sprinkler, and extinguisher inspections.

Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements.

Assist in training and directing the day‑to‑day work of a helper.

Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of industry standards for fire alarm systems installation.

Experience with a variety of system manufacturers.

Troubleshooting skills, including researching online and consulting system manuals to resolve problems.

Experience with conduit bending, understanding of blueprints and wiring schematics, and layout of system installations.

Exceptional communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and subcontractors.

Flexibility in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre‑established courses of action for completing or progressing with projects and assignments.

Adherence to all company policy and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior military experience.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Work Environment
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following may be included, but are not limited to:

May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness.

May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels.

May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including dust.

May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights.

Physical Demands

This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.

While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.

Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color‑coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Travel

May require travel (typically not overnight).
