We are currently seeking an Expressive/Activity Therapist to join our professional team!
Hermitage Hall (a UHS company) is one of Middle Tennessee's largest stand‑alone psychiatric residential treatment hospitals. Licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as a mental health residential treatment center for children and youth, Hermitage Hall has provided services to families for over 30 years. Located southwest of downtown Nashville, off I-65 at the Wedgewood exit, away from the congestion of downtown Nashville, our team of over 130 high‑quality employees describes working here as family oriented, therapeutic, value clarifying.
Position Summary: The Expressive/Activity Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity‑based therapeutic interventions for assigned programs and patients with a range of physical abilities, disorders of the mind, and/or substance abuse issues. The Expressive Activity Therapist will aid patients in achieving treatment goals identified by the interdisciplinary treatment team in addition to providing continuous patient care, observation, and interaction under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, Therapeutic Programming Manager, and Expressive Therapy Clinical Team Lead.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreation, Education, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Bachelor's degree candidate must have a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), required.
Related work experience, one to three years.
Knowledge in one or more expressive therapy disciplines (e.g., art, music, recreation, dance and/or drama therapy).
Knowledge of psychiatric and behavioral management techniques.
Ability to provide therapeutic intervention for all age groups and populations.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in crisis situations.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Effective communication and relational skills.
Proficiency in electronic documentation and communication.
Flexibility and adaptability.
