Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) - This posting is open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees.
NaphCare is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Camden Community Work Center in Camden, Alabama.
As a Correctional CNA, you work under a registered nurse and collaborate with correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to inmates within a controlled environment where security is top priority. You will assist physicians and healthcare professionals with examinations, take patient histories, perform vital sign measurements, support administrative tasks, and more. This unique position allows you to make a difference in the lives of patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history.
Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight.
Perform routine procedures under established protocols (e.g., phlebotomy, EKGs, dressing changes and wound cultures).
Documenting medical history including medications, treatment, and medical conditions.
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility.
Provide basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions.
Observe and report changes in patients' physical or mental health to nurses.
Qualifications
CNA Certification - Completion of an accredited CNA training program and passing a state-approved competency exam.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Be able to obtain CPR and first aid certification, may be required.
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.
Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Physical Capabilities
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
