Duration: 6 months (chance of staff position or extension if all goes well)
Hourly Pay Rate: £28 per hour (set rate for all shift work including day and night shift).
Key Responsibilities
Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on duplex stainless steels and Inconel‑clad carbon steel in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Fabricate and weld pipe spools (¾‒9" OD) to tight tolerances, ensuring correct alignment, sound root fusion, and full weld penetration.
Work in compliance with ASME Section IX, EN ISO 15614 / EN ISO 9606, or equivalent company‑approved welding qualification standards.
Accurately interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, weld maps, and WPS/PQR documentation.
Carry out all stages of weld preparation, including joint fit‑up, bevel inspection, purge planning and setup, and consumable control.
Produce welds that consistently meet NDE and QA acceptance criteria, including VT, PT, RT, and UT where applicable.
Adhere to internal fabrication procedures, safety requirements, and strict material traceability controls.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, welding inspectors, and QA personnel to maintain production schedules and quality objectives.
Candidate Profile
Proven hands‑on experience in GTAW welding of duplex stainless steel and Inconel overlay/clad materials, ideally on pipe spools and pressure‑retaining components.
Valid, in‑date welder qualifications to ASME IX or EN ISO 9606 (or the ability and willingness to complete approval testing).
Strong technical understanding of heat input control, ferrite balance in duplex materials, and correct handling of nickel alloys.
Ability to confidently read and follow technical drawings, WPS documents, and fabrication data sheets.
Demonstrated commitment to producing welds suitable for stringent inspection and NDE requirements.
Effective communicator with the ability to work within a team‑based fabrication environment.
Safety‑focused, with a disciplined approach to housekeeping and maintaining a clean, controlled work area.
