Position Overview
At Ameriwell Care, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a key role in helping individuals with developmental disabilities live meaningful, self-directed lives. In this position, you will support individuals with everyday activities, build life skills, and encourage active participation in the community.
You’ll work closely with each individual in their home and out in the community, following their personalized service plan to ensure care is delivered safely, respectfully, and in line with the guidelines of the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Key Responsibilities – Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Deliver personalized support services in both home and community settings, tailored to each individual’s needs.
Assist individuals in building and maintaining everyday life skills such as cooking, personal care, organization, and structured routines.
Facilitate participation in community activities, including social outings, errands, and scheduled appointments.
Promote personal growth by encouraging independence, confidence, and meaningful social interaction.
Maintain a safe and supportive environment by providing appropriate supervision at all times.
Complete accurate and timely service documentation using electronic systems, HHA Exchange in compliance with New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities requirements.
Collaborate and communicate consistently with families, supervisors, and the care team to ensure high-quality support.

Meet the minimum age requirement of 18.
Have the ability to meet all hiring compliance standards, including required screenings and clearances.
Be open to completing CPR and First Aid training if not already certified.
Have dependable transportation to travel to assigned cases when needed.
Bring a strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and compassion when working with individuals.
Experience in supporting others is welcomed, but not necessary—we’re willing to train the right person.
