Department Summary
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems Division for a Production and Service Technician. This position requires hands‑on involvement with equipment to facilitate prototyping, assembly and repair in our Melbourne, FL office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble electrical and mechanical components to produce working subassemblies and completed products
Fabricate wiring harnesses by terminating a broad range of cable and connector types
Troubleshoot failed equipment that is returned and facilitate repair
Disassemble, segregate, tag and label piece parts and top assemblies correctly
Identify articles as scrap and complete the Non‑Routine Form (Form 03015) as outlined in its instructions in the Forms Manual
Request, use and return articles and materials to inventory as outlined in the Repair Station and Quality Manual
Keep work areas clean and orderly and notify Supervisor(s) and/or Material Manager of requirements for materials and other supplies
Complete work in compliance with quality standards to meet certification requirements
Responsible for working within the limitations depicted on the Repair Station Roster
Ensure tools, tooling, equipment and test apparatus are in good working order and have a current calibration label when required before use
Record the use of a leased or borrowed item on the Applicable Method Sheet when used
Responsible for ensuring replacement information for damaged items is captured on applicable Method Sheets
Request inspections at the appropriate points identified on the Method Sheet
Ensure adherence to documentation requirements
Review all technical data to ensure proper information is being used
Complete the Work Completion Record as steps are accomplished so that continuity of actions can be maintained
Record corrective actions taken on discrepancies discovered during process inspections on non‑routines (Form 03015)
Review and sign the shift turnover log for any Method Sheets assigned before beginning work
Complete any record required truthfully and in accordance with its instructions
Ensure training records are up to date
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in Manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications
Awareness of AS9100 and 14CFR Part 21 operational requirements as related to production and service activities
Knowledge of IPC 610, IPC 620 and IPC J-STD-001 standards
Thoroughly familiar with the equipment and tooling used to execute assigned tasks including general hand tools as well as applicable calibrated tooling and test equipment; examples may include but are not limited to: multimeters, soldering stations, torque wrenches and drivers, wire harness fabrication tools, spectrum analyzers, Planar Near Field (PNF) scanners, power supplies, etc.
Familiar with the applicable regulations, the RSQM, the Training Program Manual, the Forms Manual and its documents with respect to the duties assigned
Proficient in using the various types of tools, equipment and inspection equipment and visual inspection aids appropriate for the article being produced or serviced
Basic computer skills to include the use of Microsoft Office Suite software
Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to management in a professional manner
Essential Qualifications
Candidate must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
Climb ladders to heights of up to 20 feet
Work with hands and arms above their head for an extended period
Carry equipment up to 50 pounds
Be able to work repetitive tasks like installing/uninstalling cables/equipment
Have the dexterity to terminate various types of cabling (i.e. CAT6/6A, coaxial cable, fiber cable) with precision
Work in a 24x7x365 work environment

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $43,500.00/Year – $62,000.00/Year
