Job Overview
A Building Automation System (BAS) Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots automated systems that control a building's HVAC, lighting, and energy usage. They program controllers, monitor system performance, and diagnose issues using specialized software and tools to ensure efficient and reliable operation. The role involves routine maintenance, responding to service calls, and supporting system upgrades while working with engineers and facility managers. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC, and networking is important, along with problem‑solving skills, as the job focuses on improving energy efficiency, maintaining system performance, and ensuring occupant comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
Serves as a resource for building automation systems (BAS) across the facility
Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and tests HVAC control systems
Diagnoses control level components, including pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls
Troubleshoots and repairs building systems to support proper operation
Works with maintenance personnel to support preventative maintenance activities on plant systems
Performs related work as required to support operational needs
