Job Title: Service Technician
The Service Technician oversees the daily work of service technicians and performs hands-on work on plumbing, heating, and refrigeration systems. This role troubleshoots and resolves HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control issues while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. The Service Technician reads and interprets blueprints, coordinates with subcontractors and other on-site personnel, and represents the company in a professional manner. The position requires the ability to both accept direction and provide leadership, including delegating tasks when necessary.
Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day work of service technicians to ensure all jobs are completed in a timely, thorough, and profitable manner.
Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control system problems in commercial environments.
Install, service, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and equipment, including HVAC controls and related components.
Read and interpret blueprints and project documents to plan and execute work accurately.
Communicate effectively with all personnel on the jobsite, including subcontractors and internal team members, to maintain smooth project coordination.
Serve as technical support for other service technicians by answering technical questions and assisting with complex issues.
Attend job site and office meetings related to assigned projects as needed, and come prepared to address technical and logistical issues.
Complete all required project documentation, including forms, revisions, and requests for tools, equipment, and materials.
Follow up with customers for quality assurance, addressing any concerns and ensuring customers are fully satisfied with the work performed.
Respond reliably to emergency service calls and work in urgent situations as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support service operations and customer needs.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of commercial HVAC experience.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, hydronic, piping, and control systems.
Ability to install, service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC equipment and systems.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers, subcontractors, and team members on the jobsite.
Capability to provide technical guidance and support to other service technicians.
Ability to organize and allocate labor resources to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Dependability and readiness to respond to emergency situations when called.
Strong attention to detail in completing forms, revisions, and material or equipment requests.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with HVAC installation, service, and construction in commercial settings.
Knowledge of HVAC controls and control systems troubleshooting.
Ability to lead and delegate work to other technicians when necessary.
Comfort attending and contributing to job site and office project meetings.
Customer service mindset with a focus on quality assurance and long‑term client relationships.
Interest in continuing education, licensure training, and professional development.
