Job Description

Purpose : This role is field‑based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Overview : Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance while placing the patient at the center of all efforts.
Responsibilities

Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
Create pre‑call plans and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, and consistently gain logical, reasonable calls to action to close every sales call.
Proactively and continuously serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers for maximum access and sales opportunities.
Continuously build understanding of customer needs and expectations, the territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical, and sales expertise, and share this intelligence with in‑field teams, brand teams, and the sales manager.
Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers, identify, develop, and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry, and a high school diploma or GED required.
Demonstrates in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders. Strong business acumen and strategic, critical thinking capabilities.
Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and quickly adapts selling approach, leveraging findings to develop sales strategies.
Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities.
Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected role model among peers; builds collaborative partnership with district colleagues and matrix teams.
Leads by example; consistently displays positive behaviors and peer coaching through changing and challenging environments; documented success in leadership and support roles with increased responsibility at the district, region, and/or organizational levels.
Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical experience such as physician/account‑based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing.
English language proficiency (verbal and written) for all non‑English speaking countries.
Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities within the assigned territory. Requirements include background checks, drug screening, immunization proof, fingerprinting, or other; must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening; must meet safe driving requirements. May be required to use personal auto, company vehicle, or equipment.

The compensation range described is the range of possible base pay the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of posting, depending on geographic location and other factors.
Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
This job is eligible to participate in short‑term incentive programs.
