
1st Shift CNC Operator

The CNC Operator is responsible for the timely and accurate production of metallic machined parts per the specifications and requirements of the shop traveler. The CNC Operator is also responsible for error-free processing of each order, and for completing the necessary paperwork and computer data entries associated with the CNC Production Process.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the CNC Operator. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
Operate, maintain, clean, setup, load, and unload the CNC Router
Effectively and efficiently carry out production process
Receive order from Production Planner
Allocate, pull, and load material
Set up machine and run job
Inspect products
Clean, label, and stage finished parts
Offload scrap or stock and return any materials as needed
Process job through the system and maintain an organized, clean work area
Verify quality to ensure the product meets the customer’s specifications
Regularly clean and maintain equipment and machinery
Program and troubleshoot CNC Router functions
Understand Sunshine Metals’ objectives and mission
Practice a willingness to learn production and distribution methodology
Adhere to all Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations, quality standards and procedures
Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day
Cross-train other team members as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Drivers license
Two or more years of machine operating experience
Intermediate or Higher CNC operation experience
Good reading and math skills
Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to measure using different tools
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework in metalworking, blueprint reading, drafting and math
Two years machine operating experience
One or more years of CNC router operation experience
Mastercam experience
Standing — More than ¾ of the time
Use of hands or fingers to handle or feel — Over ¾ of the time
Reach with hands or arms — Over ¾ of the time
Kneeling/Crawling/Twisting/Balancing — Over ½ of the time
Bending/Climbing — Over ½ of the time
Talk or hear — Over ¾ of the time
Close vision (clear vision at 36 inches or less)
Weights to be lifted
Up to 50 pounds — Over ¾ of the time
Up to 75 pounds — Less than ¼ of the time
Weights to be pushed/pulled
Between 25–50 pounds — Over ¾ of the time
Working Conditions
Good working conditions. Frequent visual/auditory attention to recognize needs for repair and service to facilities, machines, and vehicles.
Exposure to hazardous machinery, sharp tools, proximity to moving objects, noise, heat, humidity.
