Job Description
This traveling role focuses on the installation, assembly, and startup of commercial supermarket refrigeration systems at grocery stores throughout the Midwest and Southeast. You will perform extensive in‑case copper brazing, pipefitting, and equipment installation while working on new builds and remodels/refurbishments. The position offers consistent, year‑round work on night shifts as part of a traveling crew, with paid travel time, per diem, and vehicle allowance.

Responsibilities

Install commercial supermarket refrigeration systems and components in grocery store environments.

Perform compressor installations and refrigerated case installations for new builds and remodels.

Execute copper pipe fitting and brazing, including extensive in‑case brazing work.

Replace defective parts and components to restore proper system operation.

Assist with refrigerant recovery, replacement, evacuation, and charging following proper procedures.

Perform basic electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting on refrigeration and control systems.

Insulate piping and verify that all installations meet quality, code, and safety standards.

Use test and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, gauges, reclaim machines, and vacuum pumps.

Follow lockout/tagout procedures and adhere to all jobsite safety policies and practices.

Communicate technical information clearly and professionally with customers, vendors, and internal team members.

Work as part of a traveling crew of 6–8 technicians on projects that typically range from 2 to 18 weeks.

Travel between job sites across the Midwest and Southeast, with travel time paid at the standard hourly rate.

Support both new installations and remodels/refurbishments of commercial supermarket refrigeration systems.

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

Demonstrate reliability by maintaining consistent attendance and readiness for night shift work.

Essential Skills

Proven commercial supermarket refrigeration installation experience.

Strong copper brazing skills, including in‑case brazing (required).

Hands‑on experience with refrigeration tools and equipment, including multimeters, gauges, reclaim machines, and vacuum pumps.

Pipefitting experience for refrigeration systems.

Knowledge of refrigeration systems and refrigerants, including recovery, evacuation, and charging.

Basic electrical testing and troubleshooting skills for refrigeration and control systems.

Understanding of refrigeration control systems; experience with Novar controls is preferred.

EPA 608 Certification.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to pass a drug screening, including THC.

Reliable transportation to support frequent travel between job sites.

Ability to communicate clearly in technical environments and work effectively within a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with commercial refrigeration systems in grocery or supermarket settings.

Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration and ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.

Experience working with racking and control systems in large commercial installations.

Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated approach with the ability to work independently when needed.

Comfort working overnight 10‑hour shifts on a consistent basis.

Strong commitment to safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.

Ability to adapt to varying project durations, typically ranging from 2 to 18 weeks.

Work Environment
Work takes place in grocery stores throughout the Midwest and Southeast United States, including a mix of new construction and remodel/refurbishment projects. Technicians work in traveling crews of 6–8 on 10‑hour night shifts, typically from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with a standard work week running from Sunday night through Thursday morning and average weekly hours of approximately 45–50. The role involves frequent travel between job sites, with travel time paid at the standard hourly rate. A vehicle allowance of $150 per week supports reliable transportation, and a per diem of $59 per day is provided for daily expenses. Hotels are booked and paid directly by the employer, and technicians who choose to use an RV instead of a hotel receive an additional $40 per week RV allowance. The work environment is fast‑paced and physically active, requiring the use of tools and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, gauges, reclaim machines, and vacuum pumps, as well as adherence to strict safety practices on active retail and construction sites.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58,240.00 – $91,000.00 per year. Pay is weekly. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, lift, and supplemental benefits. Vehicle allowance, per diem, and company‑booked hotels are provided. Company‑paid health insurance is available for employees. A 401(k) with match after one year of employment is also offered.
