Overview
The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to manage the day-to-day clinical operational activities at the PepsiCo Las Vegas plant. The position reports directly to the Central/Mid-West Regional Coordinator for the PepsiCo/JHU partnership and works closely with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and Assistant Director of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the PepsiCo clinic in Las Vegas, NV.

Triage and treat minor work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.

Dispense over-the-counter and prescription medications in accordance with standing orders to employees with minor concerns (back pain, headache, and pharyngitis).

Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP.

Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with company protocol.

Provide on-site assessments for acute and chronic illnesses, such as strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia.

Provide support and case management for work-related and non-work-related conditions to reduce illness and absenteeism.

Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers' compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols.

Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program.

Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminars and general wellness events.

Provide referrals for PepsiCo employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence to company protocols.

Perform on-site physical assessments (DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required by PepsiCo.

Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses, medications, treatments, etc.

Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems.

Administrative Services

Maintain and revise procedures, protocols, and standing orders as needed.

Maintain adequate clinical supplies.

Maintain Letter of Permit Exception with the XXXXX Department of Health/CLIA required for lab testing provided on-site.

Maintain patient electronic medical records.

Benefits & Safety Collaboration

Coordinate and plan health and wellness events and initiatives.

Manage workers' compensation claims.

Expand clinic services and reach.

Provide crisis management/intervention as needed.

Provide general medical advice to the PepsiCo Human Resources and Safety/Risk Management departments.

Ensure prompt, appropriate clinical care in accordance with PepsiCo, Johns Hopkins University protocols, state regulations, and professional standards.

Develop relationships with regional clinical providers to provide back-up clinical care.

Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to PepsiCo employees as required.

Ensure all patients receive prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional attention.

Ensure clinic facilities are neat, clean, and attractive.

Develop and implement new administrative policies and procedures as needed for smooth clinic operations.

Maintain exemplary conduct to achieve goals.

Skills & Abilities

Analytical ability to evaluate and determine patient health status and implement proper care.

Interpersonal skills for interviewing, teaching, and counseling patients and interacting with clients/employers.

Comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures.

General computer proficiency and ability to use computerized medical information systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner.

Licensed in the state where practicing.

National Board Certification.

BLS certification.

Related experience in adult medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum twelve months of related experience in adult medicine.

Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers' Compensation, and DOT exams.

DOT Medical Examiner certification.

Certified Urine Drug Screen Collector.

Certified Breath Alcohol Technician.
