Job Summary
Spencer Construction is seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to support planning and scheduling functions across multiple heavy civil and federal construction projects. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and supporting project teams with schedule development, updates, and reporting.
This position requires a highly skilled scheduler who can not only manage project schedules but also train and mentor internal staff on scheduling best practices, software utilization, and CPM scheduling principles. The Project Scheduler will work closely with project managers, field teams, and leadership to ensure schedules are accurate, realistic, and aligned with project execution plans.
This position may require periodic travel to project sites and offices as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 in accordance with project specifications and contractual requirement
Create and maintain baseline schedules, updates, and schedule revisions throughout the life of the project
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and project teams to develop realistic construction sequences and durations
Monitor project progress and analyze schedule performance, identifying potential delays and recommending corrective actions
Prepare and submit schedule updates, narratives, and reports to project stakeholders and clients
Perform critical path analysis and provide forecasting to support project planning and risk mitigation
Ensure compliance with CPM scheduling standards, contract requirements, and company scheduling procedures
Support project teams during schedule reviews, planning sessions, and coordination meetings
Train and mentor internal staff on the effective use of Primavera P6 and scheduling best practices
Assist in developing and standardizing company scheduling templates, procedures, and reporting tools
Provide technical support and guidance on scheduling software functions and capabilities
Participate in project planning, bid support, and schedule development for new and existing projects
Maintain accurate documentation of schedule changes, impacts, and project milestones
Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes across the organization
Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and promote a strong safety culture

Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience scheduling design-build construction projects
Must have served as the project scheduler on at least two design-build construction projects with a construction value of $5 million or greater using scheduling software
Comprehensive knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles and application
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software
Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, sequencing, and project workflows
Ability to analyze schedules and identify risks, delays, and recovery strategies
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on federal, DOT, or large-scale infrastructure projects
Experience developing and implementing scheduling standards or processes within an organization
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred
Experience supporting project teams with schedule training or system implementation
Experience integrating cost, resource loading, and progress tracking within project schedules
