Amazon is seeking a logistics professional for our Amazon Web Services Team in the Columbus, OH area.
Logistics Specialists monitor inventory levels to ensure proper stock levels are maintained to support build and repair activities in warehouse and data centers. They process inbound and outbound shipments, verify inventory, conduct cycle counts, manage an Inventory Management System, and own chain‑of‑custody processes for Data Center Technicians and Engineers. They will also transport parts between different locations using sprinter vans, trucks, or various powered equipment such as forklifts or electric pallet jacks.
Specialists should be comfortable and willing to regularly drive motorized vehicles, including box trucks up to 26' in length. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid state‑appropriate driver’s license, obtain a Driver Qualification File (DQF) or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), maintain a DOT Med Card and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
This position involves frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and products. Logistics Specialists will keep precise records of all commodities moving in and out of the company and maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of work spaces.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
Key Job Responsibilities
Receive parts, maintain inventory, and check‑out parts as needed to Data Center Technicians and Engineers
Load and unload shipments and transport parts, racks, and equipment between different locations, including localized driving of a variety of transportation vehicles
Attend company‑provided forklift operator training
Complete company‑provided training in driving box trucks up to 26’ in length
Handle sensitive/classified materials
Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts
Occasionally work in an office environment
Work overtime as required
Physical Demands
Lift loads of up to 40 pounds and carry them for short distances
Participate in group lifts of 41 pounds or more
Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment
Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
Push or pull heavy objects into position
Work in a noisy environment
Stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time
Basic Qualifications
Experience as a logistics professional supporting inventory cycle counts, shipments, maintenance, stock control functions and reverse logistics
Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years experience driving box trucks up to 26’ in length and operating a forklift (or similar type of powered lifting equipment)
Experience using a computerized Inventory Management System (IMS)
Strong understanding of shipping & receiving, inventory and warehousing practices
