
Dangerous Goods & Regulated Cargo Program Specialist

Serves the company by ensuring compliance with domestic and international dangerous goods regulations. Liaisons with domestic and international governmental agencies to ensure full compliance.
Major Job Accountabilities
Comply with all Company procedures as outlined in manuals, bulletins, and memos.
Assist in managing, maintaining and revising the Company's FAA Approved Dangerous Goods "Will Carry" Program.
Advise on Dangerous Goods Training Programs for Company's Ground Operations, Flight Operations and Maintenance personnel in accordance with federal and international regulations.
Perform Dangerous Goods Inspections (documentation, emergency procedures, training, facilities, and compliance) for the Company and related clients, ground handlers and vendors; recommend new/corrective measures to ensure full compliance with ICAO and DOT/FAA regulations.
Review and approve or reject Dangerous Goods and Special Loads shipments.
Prepare, submit, and renew Dangerous Goods country permissions for Atlas and Polar worldwide. Inspect ACMI customer records to ensure compliance with required country transport permits.
Participate in maintaining the Company's Dangerous Goods emergency response policies and procedures for any in‑flight or ground emergencies (Hot Line Assignment).
Advise on the content of computer‑based training programs and training videos; advise on operations manuals and training manuals as referenced to dangerous goods and special loads.
Perform Dangerous Goods training activities for the Company and related clients, ground handlers and vendors.
Interact with domestic and international organizations in reference to the Dangerous Goods Transport and Regulations.
Interact with Federal (FAA, DOT) and International agencies (CAA, IATA, and ICAO). Attend training seminars and regulatory conferences to ensure up‑to‑date compliance with aviation regulations and the U.S. FAR’s.
Interact on AMC operations for diplomatic clearances and exemptions.
Other activities and special projects as directed by the Ground Operations Standards and Training Directors.
In the absence of the Manager of Dangerous Goods, the Dangerous Goods Specialist may take the designation of his/her duties.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of domestic and international air dangerous goods regulations and regulated cargo programs.
Proactive in anticipating problems and initiating actions to resolve issues regarding training matters.
Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word specifically), Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
Dangerous Goods certified and qualified.
Weight and Balance certified and qualified preferred – does not perform weight and balance functions as part of the job.

$54,500 – $73,500 USD
