Location
Cookeville, TN. This position is a DCS Intelligence Analyst position for the Absconders Unit in the Central Office Juvenile Justice Policy and Programs division, located in Putnam County.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.
Substitution of Experience for Education
Full‑time experience in intelligence analysis, corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement, probation or parole, and case management may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis to a maximum of four (4) years.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Applicants for this class must:
Must be at least twenty‑one (21) years of age on the date of application;
Be a citizen of the United States;
Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;
Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;
Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;
Have no conviction for a felony;
Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority;
Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check;
Submit to and pass a pre‑employment screening test for use of illegal drugs.
Overview
The position is under the Office of Juvenile Justice; however, Intelligence Analysts work with both delinquent and dependent
eglect youth in DCS custody as well as non‑custodial youth who have an open DCS case. Intelligence Analysts team with local law enforcement as well as community partners to gather and share information to be used in locating youth.
This position will be responsible for multiple counties within the TN Valley and Midstate regions. Statewide travel and on‑call responsibilities as required. Prior investigative experience is required along with strong social media skills.
Responsibilities
The Intelligence Analyst is primarily tasked with locating and apprehending missing youth from DCS custody by following leads in the field and using interview skills and investigative tactics.
In addition to field work, there are administrative duties that include maintaining active spreadsheets and documenting work that has been completed.
