Sourcing Specialist

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible to implement sourcing plans and tactics to effectively manage the sourcing activities related to their assigned portfolio to maximize supplier performance (cost, quality, lead time) and support the business plan in the GeoUnit.

Implement sourcing plans with the goal of assuring specified quality, meeting required delivery times, and minimizing cost.

Document the performance of action plans and timelines for assigned sourcing projects.

Select a high-performance supply base for assigned portfolio, in accordance with a short-list of preferred suppliers defined by Category Managers.

Conduct requests for information, quotation, information, proposal (RFI/Q/P) and bidding processes, minimizing risk and maximizing value in terms of quality, delivery and cost.

Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through supplier reviews, site visits and audits, in coordination with Supplier Quality teams, to assure supply capabilities, on-time delivery, quality and service.

Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to meet specified quality, delivery and cost objectives.

Execute contract negotiation and development in coordination with Sourcing Manager and Contract Specialists.

Drive the parts and process qualification in coordination with Supplier Quality teams.

Work closely with Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Leader to guarantee supply for portfolios.

Identify opportunities and implement actions to continually reduce wasted time, money, and resources from assigned tasks.

Comply with Schlumberger and local procedures applicable to the job function.

Additional Details
Apart from job description details, Key attributes for candidates that we are looking for:

1. Relevant Industry Experience (Preferred)

1–3 years of experience

in a

manufacturing-related environment

—especially within categories such as

machined parts, forgings, castings, fabrications, or fasteners .

Prior exposure to

technical sourcing, supplier engagement, or cost analysis

is a strong plus.

2. Technical Background (For Early-Career or New Graduates)

Candidates newly out of college should have academic focus or supplemental coursework in:

Manufacturing processes

Mechanical engineering

Industrial engineering

Or related technical fields

Comfort with

engineering drawings ,

specifications , and understanding of basic manufacturing workflows is highly preferred.

3. Technical Sourcing Competency

This role is

technical

and involves:

Reading and interpreting

drawings, specifications, and bills of materials

Engaging suppliers on

manufacturing capabilities and process requirements

Evaluating

quotes for technical components

Interacting with

engineering, operations, and quality stakeholders

Candidates with

only a business-focused background

and no technical exposure may be less suited to the role.

4. Digital and Analytical Acumen

Ability to work with

large datasets

and perform structured analysis.

Proficiency in:

Excel

(advanced functions preferred)

Power BI

(data modeling/visualization)

SAP/Ariba

or similar ERP/procurement systems

Strong overall digital fluency and comfort learning new tools.

5. Business and Commercial Understanding

Ability to interpret and analyze:

Tariffs and duty structures

Cost breakdowns

Material indices

(and understand their impact on pricing)

Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance cost, risk, and operational requirements.
