Come join the dynamic Planning team at San Francisco Bay Ferry! Now hiring for the full-time position of Senior Transportation Planner.

As a Senior Transportation Planner, you will serve as a project manager and lead planner for advanced transportation and planning projects. Your responsibilities will span feasibility studies, environmental reviews, permitting, operating programs, and coordinating with stakeholders. This role emphasizes strategic planning for transit, fare programs, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives. You will receive direction from the Director of Planning and provide supervision and technical guidance to internal staff and external service providers.

Qualifications

Transit service planning experience is strongly desired but not strictly required.

Demonstrates expert-level knowledge in transportation planning, environmental compliance, capital project management, and data analysis.

Possesses strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

Is proactive in stakeholder engagement, policy development, and representing the agency in public forums and collaborative initiatives.

Thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Has a passion for sustainability, strategic planning, and improving transit services for communities.

Education & Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible planning experience, with two (2) years in a project management capacity.

License(s) and Certificate(s): None.
