Development Assistant
The Development Assistant is a full-time, year-round position that provides essential administrative and operational support to the Development team. This role focuses on routine, detail-oriented tasks that support fundraising operations, data accuracy, and donor communications. During the performance season, the Development Assistant also assists with donor-facing activities and events as needed to help ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for patrons, donors, and sponsors. This position is well suited for an early-career professional who is highly organized, comfortable working with data and systems, and interested in gaining experience in nonprofit development operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Enter and process gifts accurately and in a timely manner
Prepare and coordinate donor acknowledgments and correspondence
Maintain Customer Relations Management data integrity through routine data entry, updates, and cleanup
Assist with pulling reports and lists for mailings, events, and donor recognition
Track pledges, prepare invoices, and assist with renewals
Provide general administrative support to the Development team as needed
Seasonal & Event Support
Assist with donor events and cultivation activities, including opening nights and receptions
Support Patron Lounge operations, parking coordination, and donor hospitality during the season
Provide on-site assistance to help ensure positive donor and guest experiences
Qualifications
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfort working with numbers, data, and repetitive tasks
Experience with CRM systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; strong Excel skills a plus
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Positive, professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively
Interest in theatre, fundraising, or nonprofit work is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle preferred
This position reports to the Deputy Director of Development. It is full-time exempt with occasional evening/weekend work throughout the year, with more anticipated between June - August.
Salary: $38,000 - $41,000, commensurate with experience, as well as a competitive benefit package.
