The Certified Medical Assistant/Clinical Care Attendant is a vital member of the clinic team, providing comprehensive front and back-office support under the direction of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants or Providers. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Clerical Support:

Assist Providers with outpatient patient management on a rotating basis, handling both front and back-office functions.

Patient Advocacy & Care:

Act as a patient advocate, ensuring smooth communication and care delivery in collaboration with Providers, staff, and families.

Operational Excellence:

Utilize clinical knowledge, judgment, and discretion to manage clinic workflows, resources, and data.

Customer Service:

Maintain a strong service-oriented attitude when interacting with patients, families, and community agencies.

Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence & Patient Care

Patient Experience & Flow:

Greet patients immediately upon arrival, escort to exam suites, and provide a welcoming environment. Offer convenience items (water, coffee, tea, blankets) to ensure comfort in the lobby or exam suite.

Intake & Documentation:

Obtain patient history and review of systems. Measure and record vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and complete all necessary documentation in the patient's chart according to clinical protocols.

Clinical Procedures:

Perform and/or assist with clinical procedures within scope of training and licensure under the supervision of a Provider.

Protocols & Lab Work:

Execute symptom-initiated protocols and perform ordered lab tests as instructed by the provider.

Medication & Retail:

If applicable, offer retail medications and administer prescriptions as directed by the Provider.

Visit Conclusion:

Review After Visit Summary (AVS) with the patient, provide instructions, and escort patients to check-out. Assist with patient satisfaction surveys if needed.

Follow-Up & Results:

Perform mandatory post-clinic follow-up calls (48-72 hours) and communicate test results to patients in a professional manner, consistent with Carle Health policy.

Communication:

Take, relay, and process messages from patients, Providers, and pharmacies within scope of training and licensure.

Clinic Operations & Maintenance

Room Maintenance:

Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate supplies, maintain instruments, and perform sterilization as required.

Compliance & Logs:

Maintain all required logs and checks per Carle Health policy (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, and cold sterilization fluid changes).

Employee Development

Maintain all required Carle Health and department-specific competencies and training.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $18.33 per hour - $29.69 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
