MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a SOC Director, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be essential to the customer’s cybersecurity program. You will play a crucial role in leading 24x7 security monitoring, incident response, and threat detection services that safeguard statewide systems, data, and critical infrastructure.
Lead/Manage/Support all SOC operational activities, ensuring rapid detection, triage, and response to security incidents while maintaining contractual SLAs and compliance requirements
Collaborate with cybersecurity leadership, agency stakeholders, security engineers, and incident response teams to maintain a unified, effective security posture
Drive continuous improvement of SOC processes, analyst performance, detection capabilities, and service delivery through innovation, automation, and data‑driven decision‑making
Utilize SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence platforms, logging infrastructure, and other enterprise security technologies to enhance monitoring and incident response effectiveness
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your cyber expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The SOC Director must have:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field; or equivalent experience
Experience: 10+ years of related cybersecurity experience, including 3+ years managing or directing SOC operations
Technical skills: Expert knowledge of SOC operations, SIEM/SOAR platforms, threat analysis, incident response, and security engineering fundamentals; experience with government or regulated environments; strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to manage high‑visibility incidents and stakeholder expectations; prior experience managing teams of 10 or more in a Security Operations setting.
Security clearance level: Ability to pass required background checks
Location: This will be a hybrid work arrangement based in Austin, TX. Please expect to be on‑site in Austin 1‑3 days a week.
Timeline: This is a contingent position, expected to start after 1 May 2027.

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
