About the Role
As an Information Governance Operations Manager, you will provide leadership for and manage all day-to-day operations of the Information Governance Operations team, and manage the performance and delivery of information governance services to the office, including file management (both physical and electronic), intakes, releases, destruction requests, data access requests, case room management, and records retention.

Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Information Governance Operations Department; supervise and develop the staff; organize, assign, delegate, and coordinate the work of the staff to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately; generate formal performance evaluations for departmental employees.

Exploit opportunities to enhance the Information Governance program by utilizing a thorough understanding of information management, security, and privacy principles.

Manage all aspects of all information governance processes including file intakes, releases, destructions, and data access requests for the office; ensure compliance with firm policies, and ensure completion of the relevant process; respond to questions from staff and other users and provide instruction and training as needed; implement information governance policies and procedures; ensure compliance with legal standards.

Provide guidance on the categorization and organization of firm and client files, including the formulation and implementation of standard naming conventions; ensure that staff understand various types of documents in a legal environment and how they should be handled to fulfill ethical and legal obligations.

Advise and educate firm personnel on appropriate locations where data should be stored; understand the firm’s systems and tools; act as a resource regarding various information governance questions for staff, attorneys, and other users.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

Excellent leadership skills (organizing, planning, problem‑solving, and decision‑making).

Ability to supervise work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Extensive knowledge of information governance, data security, privacy principles, best practices, and procedures; basic understanding of various legal systems and a broad understanding of the types of documents encountered in a legal environment.

Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred); a minimum of five years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

CRM, IGP and/or CIPP certification desired.

A minimum of six years of Information Governance or Records experience desired, preferably in a law firm Information Governance or Records Department; experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related experience.

Minimum of four years of experience implementing and administering policies and procedures desired; minimum of three years supervisory experience.

Compensation & Benefits
Successful candidates will receive a generous and competitive total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $130,000 – $150,000.
