Position Purpose

Key Responsibilities
Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
Triage patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, maintaining clinical communication in a dynamic environment.
Responsible for maintaining all applicable KHI Policies and Procedures.
Escorts patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam including vital signs, history, and reason for seeking care.
Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charging fees and collecting payments due.
Schedules/confirms appointments.
Maintains and facilitates communication between patients, family, and clinical staff.
Reports as necessary to Public Health at direction of provider.
Maintains work area including exam rooms, supplies, medication, and immunizations.
Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens.
Performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
May perform venipuncture.
Participates in division meetings.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program
High school graduate or equivalent
Licensure & Certification
Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license
BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
Ability to maintain attention to detail
Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware and software applications
Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol
Knowledge of and ability to implement direct care for newborn through geriatric patients
Knowledge of and ability to use basic medical terminology
Experience and Preferences
One to two years’ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical outpatient setting
Exposure Categories and Special Position Requirements
Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Other potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical, biological and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
Work Requirements
Must be able to distinguish appropriate colors
Capable of consistently reaching and/or working above and below shoulder level, lifting up to 50 pounds
Capable of walking or being on feet 90% of time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing; sitting at desk 10% of the time per day
