Position Overview
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks a Computational Biologist in New York, NY to provide support to research projects by designing, developing, and implementing software tools for processing and analyzing high‑throughput next‑generation sequencing data. Provide one‑on‑one consultation and training to research scientists and bioinformatics and software engineers in the use of bioinformatics software tools and databases. Responsibilities include program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation as part of the bioinformatics data processing and analysis system. Design, develop, and operate software and databases as part of the bioinformatics data processing and analysis system. Provide consultation and guidance to research scientists as well as other bioinformatics and software engineers at the Center. Full‑time telecommuting permitted.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field AND at least 1 year of experience in the position offered or related OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields AND at least 2 years of experience in the position offered or related.
At least 1 year of experience working with scripting languages including Perl or Python; statistical programming in R; utilizing genetics principles to perform bioinformatics data analysis; and next‑generation sequencing data analysis.
Coursework or experience in molecular biology including cloning, PCR, and pull‑down assays.
Compensation
Salary: $83,800.00 – $134,000.00 per year. Position is exempt (FSLA Status).
Location
1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065. Full‑time telecommuting permitted.
