Responsibilities
Atlantic Region Central Billing Office ("ARCBO") or ("CBO") provides business office services including billing, collections, cash posting, pre‑access management, variance, and customer service to our affiliated Universal Health Services hospitals.
The Atlantic Region CBO
is seeking a dynamic and talented Medicare Bad Debt and Charity Specialist.
The Medicare Bad Debt and Charity Specialist is responsible for completing daily processing of the Medicare Bad Debt worklist and monthly review of the Medicare Bad Debt mismatch and Charity reports. Assists with the posting of cash and denials when necessary.
Key Responsibilities include:
Demonstrates and applies knowledge of Federal guidelines as they relate to Medicare Bad Debt.
Complete weekly review via worklist of Medicare primary accounts with patient balances to determine eligibility for Medicare Bad Debt placement.
Direct any problems with accounts or where additional assistance is needed to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Review Medicare primary and Medicaid secondary accounts from reports to determine eligibility for Medicare Bad Debt placement.
Timely and accurately complete worklist each month by close.
Review documentation received from patients who are applying for financial assistance with the facility. Contact patient for additional information if needed for eligibility review. Note accounts as appropriate.
Use Search America and Accurint websites in addition to financial information received from patients to determine if patient meets hospital defined financial assistance guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree or higher preferred.
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), customer focused for internal and external customers, strong attention to detail, ability to multi‑task and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
1-3 years experience in a healthcare business office setting preferred.
Knowledge in Medicare preferred.
