Job Description:
Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical Unit on a Full Time Day Shift.
Schedule:
30 hours per week (3 shifts one week, 2 shifts the next).
Candidates must be able to receive 36 hours per week of orientation.
Patient Population:
Patients include those with a variety of diagnoses, such as ED admissions and Medical/Surgical patients.

Registered Nurse Job Responsibilities:
Performs patient assessments to collect basic data. Follows written plans of care, standards and practice guidelines while utilizing pathways under the supervision of an experienced RN. Utilizes assessment data and patient preferences to identify patient care needs.
Organizes, prioritizes, and delivers patient care to assigned patients by utilizing Inova's Nursing Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery Model (i.e., procedures, therapies, tests, and patient education) to achieve desired outcomes. Monitors patients' progress toward expected outcomes and adjusts plans of care accordingly.
Provides compassionate and empathetic hands‑on care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Stays informed about clinical decisions based on educational knowledge, principles and evidence-based practices.
Works efficiently within the healthcare team to achieve maximum productivity and identified outcomes.
Accurately documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and seeks assistance from others to further develop documentation skills.
Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings as an active member of the healthcare team.
Integrates novice nursing abilities with new knowledge and the capacity to incorporate and transfer these skills into safe, high-quality patient care. Seeks and uses resources from the healthcare team for feedback to improve practice.
Attends and participates in all learning sessions assigned for successful completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship. Completes all assignments (e.g., classroom work, computer-based learning modules, laboratory simulations and assigned readings) on time and applies them in the clinical setting.
May serve as a preceptor following appropriate orientation and competency completion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Registered Nurse Requirements:
Education:
BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN), must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
Licensure:
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
Certification:
BLS from the American Heart Association.
