
Qc Microbiology Associate

The QC Microbiology Associate will support routine microbiological testing activities within a GMP pharmaceutical laboratory. This role involves hands‑on execution of USP compendial test methods to support product release, stability, and compliance during a defined contract assignment. Pay: $28–$40 per hour.
Responsibilities
Conduct bioburden testing following USP Microbial Enumeration methods, including Total Aerobic Microbial Count (TAMC) and Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC) using membrane filtration and/or plate count methods.
Execute USP tests for specified microorganisms, including screening for objectionable organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., and Candida albicans.
Perform USP Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) testing on aqueous or high‑risk non‑sterile products, including enrichment, selective agar plating, and result documentation.
Document test results in laboratory notebooks, worksheets, or electronic systems in compliance with GMP and data integrity requirements.
Support routine lab operations such as media preparation, sample handling, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.
1 year of prior hands‑on experience performing USP 60/61/62 testing in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP‑regulated laboratory.
Strong understanding of aseptic technique, microbial testing workflows, and GMP documentation.
Ability to work independently and contribute immediately in a fast‑paced QC environment.
Work Environment
Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or a similar schedule. The QC Microbiology Associate will work in a microbiology lab that is an offshoot of the QC Lab, sharing space with one other microbiologist. Interaction with the larger QC team of over 20 individuals is expected. No weekend work is required.
