Veterinary Assistant - SA 24/7 Care
Position Summary
This position will provide animal care via feed, water, walk, transport, restrain, groom. Duties include stocking area and supplies, maintaining clinical records, ensuring facility cleanliness, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, and assisting senior veterinary staff with animal care.
Responsibilities
Patient management: collaborate with Registered Veterinary Technicians in nursing care, perform physical examinations, phlebotomy, sample collection, medication and fluid administration, monitor patient condition.
Assist senior veterinary staff with animal care tasks such as walking, feeding, watering, transporting, restraining, grooming.
Maintain clinical records: record chart entries and input charges into proprietary software database.
Stock supplies of cleaning products and patient care equipment; keep facility clean using mop, broom, and chemical supplies.
Lifting up to 50 lbs. or above as required.
Qualifications
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience. Preferred: Experience within a small animal veterinary hospital or clinic.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects, containers, or machinery.
Wear all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
Work with wound care equipment, cleaning solutions, and other materials to prevent infections.
Salary and Schedule
Salary: $16.78 per hour, plus 24/7 unit and shift differential.
Schedule: Varied 10‑hour scheduled shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and some on‑call.
