Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy team by accurately preparing and dispensing medications, assisting pharmacists, and providing outstanding customer service. This role ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations, maintains organized workflow, and contributes to a safe and efficient pharmacy environment. The Pharmacy Technician works closely with pharmacists, the Pharmacy Manager, and other team members to deliver accurate and timely patient care

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly and professionally; answer phone calls and respond to inquiries with accurate and courteous information

Assist customers with prescription pick-up and drop-off, including verifying personal, prescription, and insurance information

Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, pharmacists, and healthcare providers

Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies

Accurately enter and update prescription and patient information into the pharmacy computer system

Prepare, label, and package prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist

Alert the pharmacist to potential drug interactions, allergies, or contraindications when processing prescriptions

Assist in processing third-party insurance claims, resolving billing issues, and handling rejections promptly and accurately

Receive, stock, and manage inventory of medications and pharmacy supplies

Check for expired or soon-to-expire medications and follow proper disposal procedures

Assist in inventory audits and ordering to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance within the pharmacy work area

Operate the cash register, process payments, and assist customers with transactions as needed

Support the pharmacist in daily workflow, ensuring prescriptions are filled accurately and efficiently

Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety, security, and loss prevention guidelines

Adhere to federal and state pharmacy regulations, including controlled substance handling, storage, and recordkeeping requirements

Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain knowledge and competency

Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist on duty

Pharmacy hours are
Monday-Friday: 9am-7pm

Saturday: 9am-5pm

Sunday: Closed

Schedule
This position will require a varied schedule of 5 shifts per week, including rotating Saturdays, totaling 40 hours per week. No Sundays or major holidays.

Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing medications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required

Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications (Word, Excel, email)

Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory requirements

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment

Commitment to patient safety, accuracy, and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)

Basic math skills and computer literacy

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Active Pharmacy Technician license or registration as required by state law

Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, preferred

Immunization certification required (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
