
Patient Care Technician Senior - 4N - Neuro ICU

Description
The unit is a 22-bed Neuro/Surgical ICU, with neuro being the primary focus. We admit a vast array of patients including Strokes with and without TNK administration, head trauma, craniotomies, aneurysm repairs, ICP monitoring, EVD placement/monitoring, and organ procurement. From a surgical standpoint, we care for all patients out of PACU (GI, ORTHO, SPINAL, etc.) with exception to any open hearts. We also admit medical ICU patients and on occasion will take overflow cardiac patients. The floor often has many bedside procedures; chest tube, bronchoscopy, and EGD, to name a few. We have great teamwork and a family atmosphere.
Summary
Provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff and ensures patient safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Answering patient calls and helping patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
Feeding patients, measuring, and recording their food and liquid intake.
Monitoring and documenting patients' temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs and reporting changes to nurses or doctors.
Assisting nurses or doctors with medical procedures and dressing wounds.
Job Requirements
Education/Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
1 year of experience required.
3 ? 5 years of experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS required.
National PCT Certification (includes Phlebotomy and EKG) preferred.
