Graduate Student: Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics

Overview
The Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics Group (T-4) in the Theoretical Division conducts both basic and applied theoretical research in areas including quantum matter, strongly correlated systems, quantum information science, quantum computing, quantum photonics, materials physics, nonequilibrium dynamics, statistical physics, applied energy, and atomic, molecular, and optical physics. This research supports the missions of the U.S. Department of Energy.

What You Will Do
Graduate students will work on a research project with a staff scientist mentor and co‑mentor in one of the aforementioned areas. The position typically begins in the summer but can start at any time during the year.

Minimum Job Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in physics, chemistry, or engineering.

Enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full‑time equivalent).

Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Desired Qualifications

Experience conducting scientific research.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional scientific context.

Work Location
Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
