
Senior Research Associate, Protein Sciences

This is a six month contract with an opportunity to extend or convert to an FTE. This position is on-site daily in Foster City.
About the Opportunity
Company is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and collaborative Senior Research Associate to join its Biologics Discovery group. This position will initially focus on supporting protein production and analytical functions.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational science and culture of a dynamic biotech start-up, supported by an experienced leadership team. Role and Responsibilities
Produce monoclonal and bispecific antibodies using transient mammalian expression systems.
Design and perform in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays to characterize early-stage bispecific therapeutic antibody candidates.
Catalog and maintain mammalian expression cell lines.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Work both independently and collaboratively within a small team setting.
Characterize proteins using HPLC, SDS‑PAGE, cell binding assays, and other product quality (PQ) assays.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
BS in Protein Biochemistry or a related field with 2+ years, or MS with 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
Core Competencies and Skills
Experience with transient mammalian expression (CHO and HEK) is a plus.
Familiarity with protein purification systems (e.g., AKTA) is a plus.
Proficiency in protein characterization techniques such as HPLC, SDS‑PAGE, and cell-based assays.
Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Flexible, able to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
