Coordinator - Outpatient Imaging (Cardiovascular Sonography)

Summary
Provide oversight and coordination of outpatient peripheral vascular and echo imaging. Perform complex noninvasive peripheral vascular and/or echo studies. Responsible for the day‑to‑day workflow of the outpatient imaging team, including ensuring quality of work, meeting daily staffing needs, and ensuring compliance with imaging standards.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and monitor staff work performance for high quality, accuracy and completeness, and adherence to departmental policies and procedures; communicate information to the Manager/Director.

Adhere to and assist staff with adherence to departmental PACS policies and procedures; maintain working knowledge of hospital information system and Radiology Information System to verify that procedures are appropriately ordered and billed.

Perform non‑invasive peripheral vascular and/or echo diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures following established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Maintain proper staffing by overseeing staff schedule and approved time off, and perform time‑keeping duties; communicate staffing, patient scheduling, and attendance issues to the Manager.

Coordinate staff rotation to all areas ensuring variation to maintain staff competency; monitor staff competencies and report findings to the Manager.

Maintain equipment and rooms in good operating condition; troubleshoot equipment problems and contact service for repairs; coordinate service to minimize room downtime; report equipment problems to Management.

Maintain inventory and coordinate purchase of supplies and equipment; monitor supply usage and costs; act as liaison between the various vendors, physicians, and Management; arrange vendor visits; work with vendors and Management and Purchasing to achieve high quality, low cost supplies; make recommendations to Management team concerning budgets.

Assist Medical Director in establishing protocols; assist Manager in establishing policies and procedures.

Coordinate Echo and PVL services in the ambulatory setting; make process improvement recommendations to manager.

Comply with departmental, hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures.

Lead team members in providing state of the art services and care of the highest quality; stay up to date on new technologies and standards on a national level; integrate findings into lab practices.

Coordinate the work of technical staff to include interviewing and training of staff, planning, assigning, directing, and prioritizing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems; provide input regarding employee performance; educate, assist, and oversee student technologists.

Obtain and maintain modality‑specific accreditation with the appropriate governing bodies.

Education Requirements

Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or certificate from an accredited school in Radiology Technology preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

AART, ARDMS, RPSGT or R EEG T or CCI certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements

At least one year of echo or PVL experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical instructions; ability to document clinical information; ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from patients, physicians, family members, and other staff.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
