Job Overview
Join the Police Department as a Police Officer. Provide patrol, traffic, detective, K‑9, and school resource services. The Department offers opportunities to advance based on skill and ambition.
Responsibilities
Work rotating shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
Respond to high call volume in a fast‑paced environment.
Perform law‑enforcement duties as directed by the Department.
Benefits and Incentives
Associate Degree: 2.5%
Bachelor Degree: 5%
Second language: 1.25%
DPSST Intermediate Certificate: 2.5%
DPSST Advanced Certificate: 4.0%
Note: Associate Degree is not cumulative.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
Minimum age 21 at time of hire.
Meet physical standards set by Department of Public Safety on Standards and Training (DPSST).
Valid driver’s license; must obtain Oregon Class C Driver’s License within 30 days of employment.
Obtain DPSST Basic Police Certificate within 12 months of employment.
Obtain Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of assignment.
Residency within 45 minutes of city limits as located within the Urban Growth Boundary.
