Job Description
As a Light‑Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard you’ll ensure that anything that moves on wheels is ready for the road. In this role you will primarily be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles in the field and in the shop.
Responsibilities
Your duties include inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and replacing systems and components; performing recovery operations; and servicing electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and charging systems.
Maintain wheeled vehicles, associated trailers and material handling equipment systems.
Service automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, starting and charging systems.
Desired Skills
Interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems.
Interest in automotive engines and how they work.
Training and Career Development
Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to pursue a civilian career with service stations, auto dealers, farm equipment companies, and state highway agencies. You’ll be able to work on carburetors, transmissions, radiators, construction equipment, or endless track vehicles. Job training requires 10 weeks of Basic Training and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with classroom and field components.

Requirements
Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
