
Registered Nurse (Outpatient Specialty Care, Purple Team)

Overview
The Specialty Care Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) demonstrates leadership and creative management of complex specialty care. The RN is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care, and coordinates care focused on patient education, self‑management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
Qualifications
English language proficiency: basic written and spoken English.
Graduate of a professional nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
Or in a master’s bridge program with coursework equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
State license required; temporary appointment possible for bridge program participants until license is obtained.
Foreign graduates: required to hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration or to obtain a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized evaluator such as ICD.
Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception allows temporary appointment at entry grade while pursuing licensure.
Grade determinations based on scope‑education criteria for Nurse I, II, and III levels (ADN, BSN, MSN, or Doctoral degrees with appropriate clinical experience).
Preferred experience: BSN preferred, 2 years of successful RN experience, 1 year of outpatient clinic experience (pulmonary, rheumatology, renal, infectious disease, or palliative care).
Evidence of self‑directed and independent nursing practice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, evidence of dependability, and ability to function autonomously or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Physical requirements (lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, climbing, vision, hearing).

Responsibilities
Providing patient care, care coordination, health promotion, education, coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
Collaborating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Demonstrating performance and leadership that improves care for specialty care outpatients.
Providing peers and colleagues with formal or informal constructive feedback.
Supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality specialty nursing care.
Fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to professional development.
Evaluating outcomes of evidence‑based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
Managing documented outcomes at the specialty care program or service level.
Ensuring outcomes are broad, complex, and demonstrable at any organizational level within the facility.
Maintaining a full and unrestricted state license.
Work schedule: Monday‑Friday 07:30 am–04:00 pm.
