Job Overview
A Brake Press Operator sets up, operates, and maintains brake press machines to bend, shape, and form metal sheets according to specifications. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting proper tooling, adjusting machine settings, and ensuring precision and quality control. The operator must follow safety procedures, inspect finished parts, and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy. Ideal candidates should have experience with metal fabrication, machine operation, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and set up brake presses
Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards
Unload and package finished parts
Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, and calipers
Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and careful attention to detail.
Understanding of the basics of brake press tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job packets.
Proficient in the use of tape measures, protractors, calipers, and other measuring tools necessary to perform job.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
