Qualifications
Must attach a current Food Handler's Certificate from the County of San Diego. Certificates from other sources will not be accepted.

General Requirements
Subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance.
Submit to a general tuberculosis examination.
Be fingerprinted.
Complete a pre-placement physical examination.
Show proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
Pass a drug test under the district's drug‑free workplace policy.
Possess relevant training, education, and experience required for the classification.
Eligibility and Certification Process
Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligibility list based on total examination score. The list is valid for one year. When a vacancy is announced, the Classified Personnel Director submits names of the top three candidates for certification. The appointing power may select any one of the certified candidates.
Benefits
Health insurance for employees working five hours or more per day (25 hours or more per week) includes family medical coverage, employee life and vision, and dental coverage.
Pay for authorized holidays (16 holidays for twelve‑month employees).
Longevity pay increments awarded continuously as service milestones are reached.
Shift differential: 3.75% above base pay for work between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Sick leave: 12 paid days per year of service for full‑time employees; prorated for less than twelve months of service.
Vacation: 12 paid days per year of service for full‑time employees; prorated for less than twelve months of service.
Retirement: Eligibility for California Public Employees Retirement System and Federal Social Security program starting at four hours or more per day.
Veterans Preference points added to examination scores as defined by Education Code Section 45296.
