Mental Health Associate (MHA) Days TU5 Dual Diagnosis

Responsibilities
Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126 bed private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center located in a picturesque suburban setting, fully accredited by the Joint Commission, has been providing quality health care to adults, children and adolescents in northeastern USA since 1902. Summit Oaks has repeatedly been recognized in U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s best behavioral health hospitals.

Our Mental Health Associate (MHA) position offers an ideal opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual with prior experience working with patients with behavioral health or addiction diagnoses. The MHA functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on the nursing unit assigned. Nursing units include a 28 bed adult psych unit, a 28 bed adult dual diagnosis unit, a 22 bed child and adolescent unit, a 24 bed detox unit, and a 20 bed rehab unit. Other MHA duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups, and responding to codes.

This is a full‑time, day shift position three days a week from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

B.S. in a health‑related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably in an inpatient setting; or two years of experience in a psychiatric setting with evidence of continuing education related to mental health preferred.

Psychiatric inpatient experience with adults, adolescents and dual populations preferred.

Must maintain CPR, First Aid, Verbal De‑escalation and Handle‑with‑Care certifications, which will be provided by the hospital.
