Job Description
Follow all processes associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
Interpret schematics and blueprints to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
Conduct routine checks of electrical systems.
Adhere to NEC and other industry standards.
Plan layout and installation of wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Perform bench repair work on electrical equipment.
Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine wiring location and ensure conformance to codes.
Document work performed to meet ISO standards.
Install and test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices.
Ensure code compliance through proper installation of components.
Reference labels, job maps, instruction manuals, and written instructions to accurately perform duties.
Use a variety of tools including power construction equipment, measuring devices, and testing equipment.
Inspect systems to identify hazards, defects, or need for repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, locate cause of breakdown, and correct problem.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
Advise management on hazards that could compromise continued operation.
Maintain current electrician license or identification card to meet regulations.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or two years of related industrial electrical experience.
Experience reading electrical schematics.
Knowledge verified by verbal testing of AC/DC theory, schematics, blueprint reading, simple circuits, and industrial motor controls.
Basic computer skills.
Pass hands‑on test of required principles and tool usage.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, and maintenance.
Understanding of blueprint and technical plan reading.
Skills: troubleshooting, repair, active listening, critical thinking, judgment, decision making, installation, learning, problem solving.
Abilities: problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, near vision, oral comprehension, visual color discrimination, hand steadiness, finger dexterity.
Work activities: gathering information, identifying objects and actions, making decisions, handling and moving objects, inspecting equipment and surroundings, updating knowledge, organizing, planning, prioritizing work, evaluating compliance.
Physical demands: use arms and legs, climb, lift to 50 lbs, balance, walk, stand, stoop, handle tools.
Must wear safety equipment such as shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats.
